Today is my lastday at work. I took the friday off, so that I can prepare everything for my flight on saturday. During the last days it was really freezing cold here and foggy, so that several hundered flights had to be canceled from Heathrow airport, so that I fear a bad trip on saturday :/
Just a short review of my last weekend. Friday I’ve been on the Southbank FrostFair, which you can say was almost a real “Weihnachtsmarkt”. Very nice, and a great atmosphere directly at the Themse. Saturday I visited with Alison a … hmm…how can you describe it…let’s say some very nice christmassy decorated shopping places outside the city. With many lights everywhere and xmas trees and so on. On sunday I’ve been in Cambrigde, after Oxford I think the second most famous university here in the UK. Very nice there, but I preferred Oxford
Yesterday I had my final presentation here together with Fabio in the meeting room. He described and explained in almost 10 minutes what he has done here, learned here and that in a very professional way. I just showed some funny pictures and thanked everybody for their help and support during my time here (In 2 minutes finished )
So I’m sitting here, some minor changes have to be made to finish my final release here (programming stuff ), then we have a small farewell party with sth to drink and so on, tomorow I will spend the day with packing my case and prepare for take off on saturday.
So, working here was really great, I had a lovely team, an interesting start-up company… so close to the center of one of the greatest citys in the world
I really enjoyed it, learned a lot (english, programming..and so on ), made new friends and the experience is really priceless.
I really love my this city and I’m definately gonna miss it when I’m back in boring not so thrilling Wolfenbuettel.
But I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends and my family and to the great party that I will have here with my friends on New Year’s
Yesterday we had our xmas party here and it was really great.
We started here at 4 with drinking in the office…with some 80cans of beer, Gluehwein, Party Games and so on. Me and Fabio had to help a colleague to wrap our gifts…so I knew what I would get…. actually I thought it would be RawFlow Shirts..but we all got Hoodies…wow…in black….. stylish lol
When we started at half8 to walk to the restaurant, i was allready very finely loaded
And sure we didn’t find it immediately… and we were walking through the street (Brick Lane) where all the indian restaurants are and where to get asked every few metres, if you wanna eat something (I made that nice experience before )
So the guys that left the office after us, arrive there pretty much earlier than we, but finally we got there, moved into our private cabine, and enjoyed our perfect 3-course meal, and although I didn’t understand a single word of what I ordered… it was delicious
Fabio and me left the partey at around 12 to get the last tube and I arrived - still dizzy, but happy- at around half12 in my bed
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY
(also to you Lu! hugs for you and gimme some lifesiiigns :P)
After a lovely Saturday with Alison in Kew Gardens (a botanical garden in the rich London borough Richmond) I went with Fabio on sunday to Brighton, a seaside resort 2 hours south of London.
We arrived after a very cold, 2h bus journey at this lovely place and the weather was amazing. Although the weather forecast some days ago said sth about rain and even SNOW(!!) we were really surprised by the great weather and started our day with a walk on the promenade and went on the Brighton Pier, a Pier with a funfair on it (THE attraction of this city.. in my opinion)
After some walks over the beach and through the city it was getting cloudy and a little rainy… AND… the main thing… WINDY… wohuuu… unbelievable strong wind..but…actually….that’s the seaside, so why complaining
In the evening we went again to the Pier to try some of the rides, but due to the bad weather and the time or the lack of visitors, everything was closed except from the bumper car, which we tried out immediately
Was really, really Fun, but afterwards we really were a little cold, so we tried to take an ealier bus home, which didn’t work out, because we booked one of the tickets which are not ammendable (but cheaper of course :P), so you can’t choose another bus to get home bad thing….
So we had to stay another 1,5 hour there, but it was allready pitch black und stormy. So we used the time to pick a restaurant… which was hard enough with Fabio, as he could neither decide which restaurant to pick nor which meal to eat, but in the end Fabio had a 2-course meal, and I had just a disgusting Cappucchino.
All in all it was a great day and I can recommend to everybody to go there and I really regret that I haven’t been there in the summer to swim in the sea and enjoy the sun…

Anyway… this wednesday is our christmas party and I’m looking forward to what will happen
For a long long time I was looking forward for the christmas season here in LON. Decorated shops and streets and a unbelievable atmosphere came to my mind, when I thought about LON in december.
But what I’ve seen so far, is a little disappointing… the “biggest xmas tree in london” on trafalgar square is not really tall, but tiny… and the surrounding square is not decorated at all..
The “BIG” high streets here (oxford street/ regent street) are decorated with lights… but though not as impressive as I wanted it to be
next thing.. christmas markets.. THE tradition in germany… unknown in England…the small number of shops here on some places that call themselves a christmas market…are not really worth a visit.
But WHATS a big tradition here is ice rinks… you see lots of them all around the city…
But firstly they are unbelievable pricey (up to 22euro for an hour) and also sometimes in a poor condition with more puddles than real ice.
But before I start to be called a london-hater… it’s not like that.. I still LOVE THIS CITY… just a little disapointed…
wanna be in germany right now….drinking a GLUEHWEIN with my friends… and enjoy the season..but…anyway…there is still plenty to see and I just got 2 weeks left till germany’s got me back
so just summarise shortly what I did the last 2 weeks…
2 weekends ago I wanted to see the themes barrier on saturday..but it didn’t quite work out.. arrived there too late… was getting dark and WET *baeh*
so I went home without having seen anything.. well done andi
Sunday 2 weeks ago I visited the V&A museum and the natural history museum… verrrry interesting and very recommendable
last weekend I went on saturday with fabio to the Zoo Bar in Leiceister Square (WestEnd) –> very crowded, very hot, nice girls, VERY nice party :).. probably also the venue for our new year’s party
Sunday I went with Alison to the wonderful Windsor … very nice place…visited the castle (saw many plates, vases *LoL*….. and all the other things that the empire stole in the last centuries from its colonies :P)
This weekend Fabio and me are preparing for a trip to the gorgious Brighton.. will be fun… so let’s see
And after declining the job offer here it’s only 2,5 weeks to go…
finally…the story comes to it’s end……
From today it’s exactly one month to go till I board the plane to celebrate xmas with my family in good old Germany.
After 2 exciting weekends I am now really in a hurry to see the last remaining sightseeings, I havn’t seen so far. (Fortunately I was in the same hurry in the summer, so that there isn’t much left now :p)
It’s also soon time to think about presents for christmas… that will be fun…running around with 2million other jerks in the city, looking for something thats really really special :p
But there is also sth else that’s spooking in my mind currently… my boss asked for a minute with me in the meeting room..and I thought… OH MY GOD… what did I do wrong THIS time LoL
But he just wanted to talk to me, because they want to offer me a job here…a REAL JOB… with making money and getting holidays!!… not like now… YEEHAA!!
So, a very difficult decision… earning money and working in a very exciting city (and working here is fun I can tell you ) .. or going back and finishing my degree :-/
Nonetheless I’am very proud about this offer… so let’s see what happens………
Yesterday I have had the pleasure to see the New Yorker Indie Rock (or is it Indie Pop, mohni? ) band “we are scientists” LIVE at Brixton Academy.
The evening lasted from 7pm to 10:30. I expected to wait a long time in the queue as I didn’t received my ticket by mail, but I had to pick it up from the box office this evening.
So I wasn’t really surprised to see the some 200m queue in front of the venue. But when I was asking a security guy where to get my ticket from, I was allowed to pass the queue, grab my ticket and go straight inside the Academy. WOW… no waiting in the cold
Good tip for next time, allways collect tickets at the box office…as NOBODY ELSE is doing it
In additon to that, I had the pleasure to have a seat! Although it wasn’t planned and I would have really liked it to bounce in the crowd all the time, but it was nice not to stand 4 hours in a row AND it was a good opportunity for making lots of videos
The two support bands playing before the “real” gig were rather ok.. the second one better than
the first one.
But when the scientists entered the stage, the approximately 5000 fans really cracked up und everybody was screaming and it was a unbelievable cool partey, great atmosphere and the band was SOOOO GREAT… I definately have to do that again!
See below a video of the opening (they opened with a Phil Collins song.. WOW)
This weekend the Londoners again celebrated the Guy Fawks Night with fireworks and Bonfire.
This guy tried to blow up the parliament some 400 years ago, and because he didn’t succeed, everybody is happy now
Jenny and I decided to go to one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) firework displays in entire London.. Wood Green - Alexandra Palace.
Was a really cool night, the fireworks lasted some 30minutes and we and most of the other people were standing upon a hill with the firworks in the “valley” and and is was so unbelievable to see all the other firworks all over the horizon. WOW!
This was the first fireworks for me accompanied by music. It was really great!
In addition to the firework the was a funfair inside the Alexandra Palace with an ice rink and a Big Band and and and… and everything for free… well.. not the beer, but… most of the other things
see my video of the fireworks below
(a little longer, but it’s worth it )
On sunday I went on with my sightseeing tour and a climbed the Monument, and I visited Wimbledon, which is a beautiful, rich and calm borough in London’s south west.
In the evening I went to Leicester Square and saw the premiere party of a film in one of the huge cinemas on that square..well.. I saw all the people waiting for the stars… and the stars themselves, whoses name’s I’ve never heard before :p .. but for sure I haven’t seen the movie itself.
But it was funny to see all the people screaming and waiting and all the police men trying to keep all the people off the fences
